Biosantexc – Official kick-off meeting of the project

Mon, 22/05/2023

A delegation from ENS de Lyon, composed of the Office of International Affairs and representatives of the four laboratories in life sciences of the ENS de Lyon, will be present at the IISER Pune, where this important moment of the Biosantexc project will take place form May 23 to May 25, 2023.

Created at the end of 2022, the Franco-Indian campus in life sciences for health Biosantexc is a project initiated and funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs in partnership with the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research. Initiated through the ENS-IISER partnership coordinated by the ENS de Lyon, Biosantexc gathers 11 main partners and 3 associated partners across France and India: the 4 French Écoles normales supérieures (ENS), 6 Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) and 4 other Indian research institutes.

Biosantexc aims to create a network of excellence for the development of scientific cooperation based on joint training programs at Master and Doctoral levels. The main objective is to address global challenges and issues in life and health sciences, including climate and ecological transition. Consortium members rely on the connection between human sciences and life sciences to stimulate projects on the concept of "One Health". The whole project is based on a close articulation between education and research through interdisciplinary approaches.

From May 23 to May 25, 2023, the official kick-off event of the Biosantexc project will take place at IISER in Pune. As coordinator of the Biosantexc consortium, ENS de Lyon will be well represented with a delegation including the Intern representatives of the Office of International Affairs and researchers from the four biology laboratories: the Centre international de recherche en infectiologie (CIRI), the Institute of Functional Genomics of Lyon (IGFL), the Laboratory of Biology and Modelling of the Cell (LBMC) and the Plant Reproduction and Development Laboratory (RDP).

A large part of the program will be dedicated to scientific discussions — with 29 scheduled talks, including 10 by the French partners — necessary for the establishment of long-term cooperation and the structuring training programs. A time will also be devoted to the elaboration of the programs that will be developed within the network and for the presentation of the bilateral funding programs by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA, bilateral organisation set up by Governments of India and France) and French Embassy in India.

The official presentation ceremony of the Biosantexc consortium agreement will take place on May 24 in the presence of the Consul General of France in Mumbai.
