Congratulations go to Olivier Terrier - Research Fellow at the International Center for Infectious Disease Research (CIRI - CNRS/University Claude Bernard Lyon 1/Inserm/ENS Lyon) - winner of the CNRS Bronze Medal for 2021.

Olivier Terrier is a researcher in Bruno Lina’s and Manuel Rosa-Calatrava’s VirPath team. His current research projects are to study virus-host interactions in the human respiratory epithelium. Another part of his current work is dedicated to the development of innovative approaches to identify/reuse small molecules of interest in the field of respiratory viruses based on their transcriptional signatures of infection. He is particularly interested in the study of co-infections/over infections between viruses and bacteria, so he is developing new experimental models for this purpose.

ENS de Lyon is obviously pleased for Olivier, winning a medal, and the School would also like to congratulate five other recipients who have studied or carried out their thesis work at the ENS de Lyon, or who are currently teaching there.

Silver medals 

• Marie-Hélène Verlhac, a former student of the School, formerly known as ENS Lyon, was part of the second academic year, that of 1988. A biologist by training, she is currently a research director at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Research in Biology (CIRB - CNRS/College of France/Inserm). 
• Catherine Tallon-Baudry, also a former student of the ENS Lyon, was part of the 1991 academic year. A biologist by training, she is currently a research director at the Laboratory of Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience (Inserm).

Bronze Medals

• Marthe Bonamy, a former student in the computer science department of ENS de Lyon, obtained a master’s degree in Computer Science research in 2011. She is now a CNRS research fellow at the Bordeaux Computer Research Laboratory (LaBRI-CNRS/Bordeaux INP/University of Bordeaux) where every year she welcomes students from L3 of ENS de Lyon (even remotely, as was the case this year).
• Mioara Joldes, a former student in the computer science department of ENS de Lyon, obtained a master’s degree in computer science in 2008. She then continued her thesis work at the Lip - Rigorous Polynomial Approximations and Applications - under the direction of Nicolas Brisebarre and Jean-Michel Muller. She is currently a CNRS Research Fellow at the CNRS Systems Analysis and Architecture Laboratory (LAAS-CNRS- CNRS).
• Élodie Salager, a former student in the chemistry department of ENS de Lyon, she completed her thesis work at the Chemistry Laboratory - High-resolution solid-state NMR for powder crystallography - under the direction of Lyndon Emsley. She is currently a CNRS research fellow at the Extreme Conditions and Materials: High Temperature and Radiation Laboratory (CEMHTI - CNRS).
• Rémi Boutonnet completed his thesis work at the UMPA - Several aspects of the rigidity of von Neumann's algebras - under the direction of Cyril Houdayer. He is currently a CNRS research fellow at the Bordeaux Institute of Mathematics (IMB - CNRS/ Bordeaux INP/University of Bordeaux).
• Charlotte Rivière is currently a professor-researcher at the Institute of Light Matter (ILM - CNRS/ Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1). For the past 3 years, she has been teaching "Physics-Chemistry-Biology" (PCB2) in L3 Material Sciences at ENS de Lyon.
