On Monday, June 20, Laurence Roulleau-Berger chose to receive her medal of merit at ENS de Lyon, presented by Marie Gaille, director of the Institute of Human and Social Sciences. The ceremony, just like Laurence Roulleau-Berger's impressive scientific career, was full of energy, discussion and emotion.

Laurence Roulleau Berger was surrounded by her relatives and many colleagues and former students, some from afar. Yanick Ricard, Vice-President Research from ENS de Lyon, Li Peilin, from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and co-founder with Laurence Roulleau-Berger of the LIA Postwestern Sociologies and Marie Gaille.

"It is in our interest to walk in your footsteps," said Marie Gaille at the end of her speech, recalling how inspiring and fruitful Laurence Roulleau-Berger's career has been, whether it is to initiate a new vision of sociology by inventing the theory of post-Western sociology or to train generations of doctoral students in their research themes on subjects such as migration, the environment, work and employment, youth and women.

Laurence Roulleau-Berger, for her part, said with a broad smile that she intended to continue her journey and her commitment, with the same energy and insatiable curiosity to explore new transnational areas discovering how others see the world.
