Integrated Research Oriented Training Network in Life Sciences through Interdisciplinary Approaches.

The Biosantexc project is one of the four winners of the call for projects launched by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, for the creation of a Franco-Indian campus in life sciences for health. The Biosantexc consortium is led by ENS de Lyon, IISER Pune coordinating Indian partners.

Presentation and objectives

The objective of the project, in its initial two-year funding phase, is to develop scientific cooperation and joint training at master’s and PhD level within a Franco-Indian network of excellence. For this, and in addition to their previous partnership experience, Biosantexc members propose creating an "adaptive and flexible" network that has a sufficiently critical size so that researchers and doctoral students can find interconnected links in both training and research. They also rely on the connection between human sciences and life sciences to stimulate projects on the concept of "One Health", global health. Finally, the whole project is based on a common approach to training both through and for research by using interdisciplinary approaches.

In short, the aims of the project are to:

  1. Establish a sustainable ecosystem in which research and training are closely linked and mutually maintained: develop parallel links in research (mobility of researchers/ workshops) and training establishing continuity between the Master’s – Doctorate programs.
  2. Set up at master’s level of "twinning programs" in the context of cross-mobility, some of which may later become double degrees. At the doctoral and research level, develop scientific collaborations and co-leadership/co-supervision of theses via research stay programs.
  3. Strengthen Franco-Indian ties in the long term by training specialists (scientists, private and public research decision-makers) with Franco-Indian intercultural skills who are able to work together in a bilateral or multilateral framework throughout their careers.
  4. Gain in visibility for an influence and attractiveness of the Biosantexc network extended to other countries and partners in the Indo-Pacific area.

The first implementation is immediate with a first campaign of internships in France and India for students from all the institutions of the consortium. This campaign will be followed by mobility programs for researchers and teacher-researchers and then doctoral mobility.

A web space dedicated to Biosantexc will soon bring together the main information of the consortium members, the news of the initiatives implemented, mobility opportunities within the network as well as calls for projects.
