Honors and awards

This prize is awarded for work intended for the progress and well-being of humanity.

François-Loïc Cosset

François-Loïc Cosset is a microbiologist and CNRS research director at the Centre International de Recherche en Infectiologie (Inserm/CNRS/ENS de Lyon/Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1).
By comparing different species of viruses, he and his team seek to understand how certain "human" viral pathogens can establish acute or persistent infections, and how these viruses pass from animals to humans. His research has also led to the development of innovative biotherapies for chronic diseases that are being evaluated in gene therapy and immunotherapy.

  • a researcher for experiments in the field of the sciences of the universe, and a researcher for experiments in cellular and molecular biology, for the other year
