Orlan, Occasional strip-tease
“Défigures” showcases works from the collection of the Contemporary Art Institute (IAC) in Villeurbanne, bringing together artists Magdalena ABAKANOWICZ, Sylvie BLOCHER, Tony CRAGG, Mélik OHANIAN et ORLAN.
Curators: Adèle Arghyris, Ninon Johannes, Naomi Polonsky, Léa Polverini et Juliette Stella.
The exhibition is part of the 5th edition of the master class “Introduction to curating exhibitions of contemporary art,” jointly directed by Sara Vitacca & David Gauthier of the ENS de Lyon and by Nathalie Ergino & the IAC. High-standard collaborations were initiated with universities from the first year of the E-Studio project, set up in 2009. Having a master class dedicated to familiarizing students with curatorial practices has enhanced and strengthened the partnership struck five years ago between IAC and the ENS de Lyon.
Every school year since 2011, this introductory class to contemporary art curating has been designed as a comprehensive training program led by the IAC’s team and visiting lecturers, in tandem with the ENS de Lyon.
