The school “MathInfoLy” is an initiation to research in math and computer science. It’s international but French speaking, targeted at high school students finishing their tenth, eleventh or twelfth grade and specializing in science. The school interacts with the summer university ‘”Math in jeans” and is organized by the House of mathematics and computer science (MMI) with the support of the Labex Milyon and the ENS de Lyon.
Program: the school begins with introductory presentations to various math and computer science topics, centered on concrete issues (biology, cybersecurity, transportation, etc.). Students then choose a theme they are interested in, that they will work on for three days in groups of five, in a relaxed and interactive atmosphere, coached by researchers eager to share their knowledge and passion. Students of the summer university “Math in Jeans” also chip in, as well as a team of professional instructors from the association Plaisir Maths. At the end of the school session, students have the opportunity to present their work and explain to their peers the difficulties they’ve faced and the progress they’ve made.
