The “French-Chinese conference on Green Chemistry, a better chemistry for a better life”, FC2GChem will gather more than 100 Chinese and French scientists both from industry and academia, in an interdisciplinary environment involving, organic, catalysis, materials, process and theoretical chemists, and will be honored by the presence of several members of both French and Chinese academies of Sciences and prestigious international speakers.

Chemistry intervenes constantly in everyday life and in most important fields of our society (manufactured goods, products and materials energy, construction, transportation, foods, hygiene, health, etc.). In the frame of a sustainable development respectful of the environment, such an omnipresence of chemistry in the modern life prompts us to minimizing pollution and hazard of the chemical processes. This is indeed the goal of Green Chemistry that looks for innovative chemical processes and products which show lower impact, notably with respect to users and manufacturers safety, life cycle and low toxicity, natural resources preservation, low greenhouse gas emissions.
These issues are a priority for each of the two countries and the goal of the conference is to highlight the strength of the common achievements and catalyze such efforts among French and Chinese researchers. A prize will be awarded to young Chinese Researchers who will be invited to present their work during the conference.

Organized in the spirit of the reciprocal agreement between the French and Chinese Chemical Societies aimed at joining their efforts for promoting Green Chemistry and with the support of several French institutions, notably the Region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and French Embassy in China, this conference follows the very successful previous events organized in 2014 in Shanghai and Wuhan, in Lyon in 2016, and the recent 2018 Shanghai edition. Once again, the conference will be open to PhD students who will benefit of the exceptional scientific program in a “summer school-like” manner.

The conference will take place on the LyonTech La Doua Campus, benefiting from facilities of several institutions, notably from CPE Lyon School Grand Amphitheater where plenary sessions will take place, the Lederer Amphitheater of the new Lederer building and the Fontannes room of University Lyon 1 for parallel sessions. Young researchers and students will be invited to attend the conference who will benefit from a wide spectrum of lectures in all fields of green chemistry. The conference will favor the emergence of future partnerships and will be the opportunity to share information on institutional tools aiming at the support of research and education collaborative programs between France and China.
