Sujet :

During the past years new transcriptome profiling technology has become available that outperforms current state-of-the-art technology in terms of sensibility and reproducibility by an order of magnitude. Concomitantly, novel analysis methods have been developed that incorporate gene function into the statistical analysis process. A combination of both advances leads to more precise and more comprehensible interpretation of transcriptome data. We will discuss at a concrete example how transcriptome profiling can be used to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying transcription regulatory changes on the one hand, and on the other how predictions about the physiologic implications of such molecular dynamics can be made based solely on transcriptome profiles.
