Habiller l'âme. Métaphores vestimentaires du corps dans l'Antiquité

The Himation Junior Lab will conclude its first year of seminars with a study day that will take place in hybrid on Friday, May 20 at the ENS de Lyon.  

This day will study clothing metaphors in relation to the conceptualization of the relationship between body and soul: it will question the didactic or heuristic function of this metaphor, as well as its evolution from classical Greek tragedy to Christian thinkers. Three axes will be privileged: the metaphor of clothing as the figurative expression of an emotion, to express a dualistic conception of man in Plato and the Neoplatonists, and finally to explain the Incarnation and to speak about the Christian life.
