Biography

A member of UMR 8317 IHRIM and senior lecturer at ENS de Lyon, Céline Guillot-Barbance is conducting research on the history of French, Corpus Linguistics and the digital edition of medieval texts (read more on the laboratory’s website).

After defending a thesis from École des Chartes, Céline Guillot-Barbance qualified to become an Archivist-paleographer in 1992. She first worked at the departmental archives of the Loire and then at the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC) in the Rhône-Alpes region. In 1999, Céline Guillot became head of the Base de français médiéval and, at the same time, she conducted, a PhD thesis in Language Sciences at ENS de Lyon, that she defended in 2003. Since 2006, Céline Guillot-Barbance has been a lecturer at ENS de Lyon. Initially a member of the ICAR laboratory, she joined the IHRIM laboratory in 2016 where she participated in the Cactus research group.

Her dual degree, both at École nationale des Chartes and at the University, has enabled her to acquire skills in Romance Philology and in language sciences and the diachrony of French. Her professional career at the ENS de Lyon also helped her discover and understand the issues of Corpus Linguistics. In 2010, Céline Guillot was appointed junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France. Her initiatives led to an accreditation to head research in 2013 at the University of Strasbourg.
