Title: Critical phenomena through the prism of the Ising model
By Hugo Duminil-Copin, Fields Medal 2022
Summary: The Ising model is one of the most classics models in statistical physics. Initially conceived as a model for ferromagnetism, it has turned out to be an incredibly rich mathematical object and a powerful theoretical tool for understanding cooperative phenomena. In its hundred-year history, a profound understanding of its critical phase has emerged. In this conference, we will present recent advances based on a probabilistic interpretation of the Ising model, linking it to percolation models.
