The PRoSFER program (Programme of Sino-French Education for Research) is a three-year course delivered in China at the East China Normal University (ECNU). It covers 9 disciplinary fields: biological sciences, physical sciences, chemistry, computer science, sports sciences, education sciences, history, sociology and philosophy.
PRoSFER is a two level program, including a Master level program and a PHD level program :
The Master-level program offers high-potential ECNU Master’s students an advanced academic supplement provided by the participating institutions - ENS de Lyon, Université Lyon 2, or Université Lyon 3. This is delivered both at ECNU, through a series of training missions conducted by faculty members or researchers from these institutions, and in France, through dedicated Master-level mobility opportunities.
This component is reserved for students enrolled in a Master’s degree at ECNU. Two academic pathways are available within the program:
• the normal track, for students recruited at the Bachelor level or in the first year of their Master’s degree at ECNU, who follow a standard Master’s curriculum;
• the short track, for students recruited directly in the second year of their Master’s program at ECNU.
The program is highly selective, with an annual admission cap of five students per discipline. A limited number of short-track students with outstanding academic potential may also be selected during their second year of the ECNU Master’s program.The primary objective of PRoSFER’s Master-level program is to prepare ECNU students to pursue doctoral studies within the framework of PRoSFER, though alternative academic or professional pathways remain possible
- The PHD level program is a full joint PHD program open to ECNU students and to ENS de Lyon, Lyon 2 university and Lyon 3 university's students as well. Selected students are enrolled both at ECNU and at one of the 3 participating french institutes. They receive a double Doctorate degree and enjoy doctoral co-supervision. In order to obtain their joint Doctorate degree students must complete all doctoral requirements of both institutions. The normal course of studies is 3 years, with the requirement to spend two semesters in the home institution. Students can apply for an extension, subject to the policy of each institution. ECNU students benefit from a scholarship from the Chinese Scholarship Council covering up to 4 years of studies. ENS de Lyon, Lyon 2 and Lyon 3 students benefit from regular types of French PHD funding. More information
