Representatives of the BIOSANTEXC network met on 22-23 July 2026 at IISER Thiruvananthapuram to explore new opportunities for scientific collaboration between France and India across several fields of life sciences and health.
The BIOSANTEXC network brings together four French Écoles Normales Supérieures, Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), and partner research institutes in medicine and life sciences. Representatives of these institutions met at IISER Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, on 22-23 July 2026 to explore new opportunities for Indo-French scientific collaboration.
The workshop placed particular emphasis on research areas where expertise across the network can complement one another, including infectious diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, cancer biology, genomics and bioinformatics. These fields illustrate the breadth of research represented within the partnership and offer opportunities to connect different approaches, technologies and research environments.
Discussions also addressed the development of joint PhD programmes, co-teaching and researcher mobility, with the aim of creating stronger links between research and training in France and India.
For ENS de Lyon, the workshop provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with Indian partner institutions and to identify areas for future research and doctoral collaboration. It marks another step in developing a long-term scientific partnership within the Franco-Indian Campus in Life Sciences and Health.
