Biography

Dr. Julie Paquette studied political science at the University of Québec in Montréal and at the University of Ottawa until she obtained her PhD in political thought in 2012. She worked as a scholar and professor at various institutions. Today, she is a, associtate professor at the Elisabeth Bruyère School of Social Innovation and Associate-Dean of the Faculties of Humanities and Philosophy at Saint Paul University in Ottawa, Canada. She is a specialist of the work of Pier Paolo Pasolini and her researches are in the areas of ethics, arts and politics.

Collaboration with IHRIM Laboratory

Professor Julie Paquette’s visit at ENS de Lyon is the continuity of her collaboration with the IHRIM and Olivier Neveux, with whom she has been working since 2016. Her project focuses on the concept of the “ethics of abjuration” in the work of Pier Paolo Pasolini, understood as a critical and adaptable form of sincere commitment in changing contexts. She also examine figures such as Galileo (as portrayed by Brecht) and Jean Genet, in connection with ideas of betrayal and political engagement. Her stay aims to strengthen institutional collaborations, contribute to teaching activities, and bring a North American francophone perspective on the intersections of art, politics, and philosophy.
