ENS de Lyon, which joined the Shape-Med@Lyon project at the start of the academic year, is taking part in the World Health Festival organised from 9^th to the 20^th December 2024 as part of the inauguration of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Academy’s campus in Lyon.

The European Research Council (ERC) has just announced the list of recipients of its ‘Consolidator’ grants. Among them are two Lyon-based projects led by Marie-Cécile Caillaud and Aurèle Piazza, both members of the ENS de Lyon.

Following the first awards ceremony on the 15th of October, the Académie des Sciences once again celebrated scientific excellence at a second session on the 26th of November 2024 at the Palais de l'Institut de France.

On Tuesday October 15, the French Academy of Sciences unveiled its awards. Congratulations to Physics laboratory members Patrice Abry and Laurent Chevillard, and School alumni.

Isabelle Baraffe, a member of the Centre de Recherche Astrophysique de Lyon (CRAL), is a Professor of Astrophysics on secondment at the University of Exeter, United Kingdom. In October 2024, she was awarded a prize for her pioneering research in theoretical astrophysics, which has revolutionised our understanding of the structure and evolution of stars and planets.

The Middle East and Muslim Worlds (MOMM) Scientific Interest Group (GIS) and the Institute for the Study of Islam and Societies of the Muslim World (IISMM) awarded their thesis prizes on September 26, 2024.

Initiated by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation in partnership with Bpifrance, the i-Lab innovation competition aims to encourage the development of French Deep Tech companies. Congratulations to the 2024 winners and, in particular, to the two researchers from our laboratories.

Research and sports can be closely linked. This is demonstrated by the Physics Laboratory of ENS de Lyon, which has long been involved in work to improve sporting performance. As the Olympic and Paralympic Games draw to a close, let's take a look at the contribution science makes to sport.

Ingrid Daubechies, Doctor Honoris causa of ENS de Lyon in 2018, is invited at the 32nd edition of Eusipco, Europe's leading signal processing conference, held in Lyon this week.

ENS de Lyon is honored to have two of its laboratories' researchers elected new EMBO members, namely, Olivier Hamant, INRAE research director, and Teva Vernoux, CNRS research director, both biologists at the RDP.

Congratulations are in order for physicist Lydéric Bocquet, former doctoral student and later Research Associate at the Physics Laboratory of ENS de Lyon.

Following the day of mobilization on June 28, 2024 in Lyon and Istanbul, a press release from the Coordination of Solidarity Committees with Pınar Selek was released after the hearing. It was noted that the trial has been adjourned again, with a date set for February 7, 2025. The support of the entire academic community in Lyon, France and the groups rallying in support of Pinar continues. 

Francis Albarède Professor emeritus at ENS de Lyon, was appointed Officer of the French National Order of Merit. Isabelle Daniel, Professor at Lyon 1 University and alumna of ENS Lyon, received the Merit Award 2024 from the French Society of Mineralogy and Crystallography.

The Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) has announced its 2024 laureates, among whom the ENS de Lyon is proud to count two of its faculty members. Andrew Pell, Professor in the Department of Chemistry and member of the CRMN, has been elected Junior IUF. Nikolay Tzvetkov, Professor in the Department of Mathematics, member of UMPA, has been elected Senior IUF. 16 alumni of the School have also been elected members of the IUF.

Emeritus Professor at IFE, Luc Trouche has been invited for a scientific visit to Beijing Normal University during the months of March and April 2024. Here's a look back at a rich and varied scientific stay, as part of the ProSFER and JoRISS cooperation programs. 

Pinar Selek's 5th court trial will take place in Istanbul on June 28. ENS de Lyon will be showing its support at the Lyon City Hall.

On May 28 and 29, 2024, the Franco-Indian life sciences for global health program BIOSANTEXC held its mid-term workshop. The event provided an opportunity to bring all the partners together to discuss the construction of a global Franco-Indian campus, and to present the concrete results of the first collaborations, such as the emergence of a plant biology project which was the subject of its own workshop on May 30 and 31.
