She also holds a Master's degree and a D.E.A. in Communication Psychology, with a dissertation entitled “Interaction rituelle et rôles sexuels. Le compliment” (“Ritual interaction and gender roles. The compliment”). Her career has been marked by a significant contribution to communication studies, with a particular interest in misunderstandings and interpersonal dynamics.

Collaboration with IHRIM Laboratory

Professor Galatolo's visit is part of a continuing collaboration with the ICAR laboratory. Her visit is devoted to the study of interaction in the medical environment, following on from her recent years of research on doctor-patient communication in the context of specialized consultations for amputee patients in a prosthetics clinic. In particular, Professor Galatolo will be taking part in the CAPTAIN project: Pratiques Communicationnelles dans les Consultations d'Infirmières en Pratique Avancée en Oncologie (Communication Practices in Advanced Practice Nurse Consultations in Oncology) (ICAR partner leader: Isabel Colon de Carvajal), due to start in autumn 2024. During her visit, she will take part in data analysis sessions organized by the research group involved in the project.

Another research project in which ICAR is involved (leader: Véronique Traverso) is the Psychotrauma and Migration project (TRAUMA-MIG). Her arrival will enable her to contribute to the initial data analysis phase, by making available her expertise in conversation analysis applied to oral narratives (storytelling), particularly in therapeutic settings.
