To celebrate its 20th anniversary, IXXI will host an interdisciplinary scientific conference on Complex Systems at ENS de Lyon from November 4 to 6, 2026, combining retrospective perspectives and forward-looking reflections on the challenges and future of these systems. This event will bring together specialists from a variety of disciplines to explore the advances made over the past twenty years and the challenges ahead.

The program will combine lectures, roundtable discussions, and exchanges focused on the contributions of complex systems to our understanding of scientific, environmental, and societal phenomena. It will also provide an opportunity to look back on the history and notable achievements of IXXI since its founding.

Among the highlights of the conference is an evening event open to the general public on Thursday, November 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., featuring a lecture on the theme “Arts and Science” and artistic performances centered on the theme of complex systems. Designed as a meeting point between science and creativity, this evening event will invite participants to explore the challenges of complexity in an original and accessible way through various formats that blend reflection, discussion, and artistic expression.
