Subject:

This Junior Laboratory creates a space to exchange and compare thoughts on how power - enforced by different institutions – is (re)produced in organized bodies, and to what extent these organizations reject this power. Comparison of how institutions function in France and Turkey. Questioning about institutions such as the police, justice, prisons, hospitals, families, studying their internal functioning but also looking at their coercive and normative capacity, in Lyon and Istanbul. A comparative approach highlights the similarities and differences between the compared systems, it is also indicative of the logics of power at work within the same system: understanding how a discipline and an order is imposed in one country is necessary to better understand how a discipline and an order is imposed in another. Studies on gender, the discipline of organized bodies, law and order forces that lend themselves particularly well to interdisciplinary work that is anchored in the Foucauldian Discourse Analyses of the microphysics of power and biopolitics.
