Conference given by Pierre Thomas supported by CALA

"Pluto has long been the poor man of the solar system; it was even "demoted" to the status of the “dwarf planet" in 2006. Pluto and its satellite Charon have been flown over only once, on July 14, 2015, by the New Horizons probe. This probe revealed two quite extraordinary worlds and "delusional Geology", with cracked plains, pockmarked with wells, lakes of frozen nitrogen and blue sunsets...".
Pierre Thomas, Professor of geology at the ENS of Lyon, and an outstanding orator, will present these two unloved planets of the solar system.
Lyon Ampère astronomy club (CALA) has a two-fold goal with the aim of promoting and developing scientific and technical activities: the spread of scientific information and allow those concerned to carry out projects in this area. CALA organizes a series of monthly lectures in the large auditorium of the Musée de la Confluence.
