This conference will examine the category of materialism through the prism of its reception, use and transformation in 19th-century French philosophy, and will focus on four areas: the study of images of 18th-century French materialism in 19th-century French philosophy, the role of disciplinary networks, and the interactions between Germany and France, as well as between France and Germany.
