For the second edition, the CNRS call for projects '80 Prime' has once again given special emphasis to interdisciplinarity and risk-taking.

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions support researchers at all stages of their careers, regardless of age and nationality. Researchers working across all disciplines are eligible for funding. The MSCA also support cooperation between industry and academia and innovative training to enhance employability and career development.

The Bronze Medal is awarded to early work of researchers who are specialists in their field. This distinction represents an encouragement from the CNRS to pursue research that is well underway and already fruitful.

Thierry Dauxois, CNRS Research Director at the Physics Laboratory, was appointed Vice President in charge of Research (VPR) on February 3, 2020, taking over from Yanick Ricard.

On 11 December 2019, the ENS de Lyon welcomed a delegation from the East China Normal University (ECNU).

The 10th Steering Committee of the Joint Research Institute for Science and Society (JoRISS), under the joint chairmanship of Mr QIAN Xuhong (President of ECNU) and Mr Yanick RICARD (Vice-President Research of ENS de Lyon), was held on December 11, 2019 at ENS de Lyon. Six projects were selected in the framework of the call for research projects launched in autumn 2019.

The 'AI Chairs' aim to offer researchers substantial resources to build a team and carry out an ambitious project whose visible impact is expected.

The École normale supérieure de Lyon had the honor of awarding the status of Doctor Honoris Causa to Joseph E. Stiglitz, the American economist, Professor at Columbia University, and 2001 winner of the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in memory of Alfred Nobel.

The 2020 Bôcher Memorial Prize will be awarded to Laure Saint-Raymond on January 16, 2020, during the Joint Prize Session at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Denver.

On Monday, October 21, 2019, the Chemistry Laboratory officially opened its new premises. Now all laboratory staff are in the M6 building on the Monod campus.

The prestigious Simons Foundation of New York has announced funding for an international project to revisit the fundamental problems of fluid turbulence using statistical mechanics.

The first edition of Knowledge Summit was held in March 2018. It was organized on the occasion of the State visit of the President of the Republic in India and inaugurated by Mrs. Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation which helped to establish the roadmap for Franco-Indian cooperation for the coming years, in partnership with companies.

On Tuesday 8 October, 35 young women researchers received the Young Talent Award from the L'Oréal Foundation, in partnership with UNESCO.

Researchers should learn to travel better to mitigate their climate impacts. Institutions can help by facilitating and rewarding sustainable travel behaviour, rather than fuelling the pressure to attend conferences, say Olivier Hamant, Timothy Saunders and Virgile Viasnoff.
