Targeting Sustainable Development

Created in 2020, the Sustainable Development program aims to identify and take stock of the actions and initiatives carried out throughout the School, to better identify needs, contribute to the sharing of information and to support emerging initiatives. Many measures have already been carried out, particularly in the field of renovation/building construction and the management of energy.

Sustainable development is one of the strategic objectives of ENS de Lyon for the next 5 years.

Events

  • Promoting Climate: a collective approach that enables us to benefit from support to achieve of a new carbon balance and define a pathway and an action plan to get there.
  • Fresque du climat (The climate fresco): an educational tool for the community of ENS de Lyon to raise awareness about the challenges of sustainable development. About twenty leaders have been trained in ENS de Lyon.

Upcoming events with the “Fresque du climat”:

  • September 30, 2021, from 2 until 5 pm for students and staff from ENS de Lyon
  • October 9, 2021, for the general public, during the Fête de la Science (Science Festival)

The whole school is actively involved

Many administrative departments have integrated the challenges of sustainable development into their respective assignments and functions: sorting waste, encouraging sustainable mobility and working from home, saving energy, renovation and construction of new premises, as well as communicating on subjects such as digital pollution, etc.

The Ecological Transition group brings together teacher-researchers and staff, in cooperation with student associations committed to climate and energy transition.

Student associations are also actively involved: especially ENvertS and PollENS. ENS Ecolo acts as a link between students and administration on all issues related to sustainable development.
