For the first time in France since 1983, the 15th European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) will be held in Bordeaux from April 9 to 15, 2026. Supported by ENS de Lyon, this international competition for girls brings together 60 countries and nearly 250 participants, and promotes gender equality in science and technology fields.

The École normale supérieure de Lyon supports the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO), whose 15th edition will take place in Bordeaux from April 9 to 15, 2026. EGMO is one of the most prestigious international mathematical Olympiad competitions and the largest one exclusively for girls. This initiative helps reduce representation gaps in the most demanding scientific fields, a goal fully shared by the School.

The competition now brings together 60 countries from every continent, with approximately 250 female competitors and nearly 500 math enthusiasts in total. This year, the French edition is being organized by the Animath association and the University of Bordeaux. This is not only the first French edition but also the first international mathematics Olympiad in France since the 1983 IMO. This makes the 2026 EGMO the largest mathematics Olympiad ever organized in France.
