Jacques Cartier Talks 2025: The social acceptability of ecological transition (part 2): urbanity and health
9:00-17:00
- ESPI Lyon
95 rue Marietton 69007 LYON
Free
Despite its urgency, the ecological transition faces challenges in the form of inertia and resistance to change, and therefore its social acceptability.
In this regard, the issue of health, which has been heightened since the COVID crisis, can be a lever for the necessary transformations of urban spaces. Combining urban issues, now viewed from the perspective of sobriety and ecological challenges, with public policies that promote health should both facilitate the ecological transition and improve the well-being of populations. This involves the ability to recover from climate hazards and heat waves, but also from pandemic risks and exposure to pollution.
The analysis will focus on how urban societies and their stakeholders are able to articulate these two dimensions in their planning, and with what success or limitations in terms of acceptance and socio-territorial equity.
