Summary

Dr Leulier and Dr Zhang are heading research groups working on a very close scientific area: Microbiome influence on host nutrition and physiological traits. Two groups will use different animal model systems: Drosophila (flies), zebrafish and Mouse to identify how do intestinal microbes shape their animal host nutrition and health. This project will test the conservation of phenomena and mechanisms underlying microbiome mediated benefit on host nutrition and physiology among different animal species. This topic carries a lot of application potentials for animal and human nutrition and health sectors.
