Mobility of ENS de Lyon staff and students

Fri, 19/06/2020

With regard to international mobility, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior have indicated that travel can resume in Europe from June 15 (possible restriction for England and Spain) and outside Schengen from July 1, subject to favourable health conditions.

Regarding the mobility of ENS de Lyon staff and students, after discussion with the Directorate of International Affairs and in the current state of the guidelines that we know of today, we are considering the following arrangements for the beginning of the new academic year 2020-21:

  1. Procedures for student mobility and staff missions are maintained, subject to a minimum duration of 6 weeks and with the possibility of cancellation without notice, depending on public health developments and the reopening of borders. We ask students wishing to go abroad, to provide an alternative solution within France, in case of cancellation and not to incur any costs at this time.
  2. Procedures for welcoming mobility students and international researchers are also maintained, with the same conditions and reservations.
  3. Assignments of less than 6 weeks are not permitted at this time, due to lockdown or quarantine measures required upon arrival in many countries.
  4. Applications for departures abroad between now and September will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, for periods of at least 6 weeks.
  5. No mobility will be allowed if the risk of contracting Covid-19 is not covered by insurance in the destination country.
  6. Check the interactive map of transport restrictions.

Travel to France is always subject to express authorization from a member of the institution's executive committee, depending on the specific provisions for each applicant.

However, we encourage you to continue communicating remotely using videoconference etc., whenever possible, and to remain extremely vigilant in view of the uncertainties of the ever-changing health situation.

Let us continue to take the utmost care so that the gradual recovery of on-site activity can continue in the best conditions possible during the month of June and with the hope of increasing this interaction at ENS de Lyon even more in July.
