Biography
Emmanuel Delille, historian, teaches in the Department of Contemporary History at Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, and is a researcher at the Centre Marc Bloch (Berlin). He obtained a doctorate in history from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in 2008, and the Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches from the ENS-PSL, in 2022. In the field of health history, many of his publications reflect on the critical use of archival materials. His latest work focuses on the history of the epidemiology of mental disorders in Canada.
Collaboration with the Institute of History of Representations and Ideas in Modernities (IHRIM)
Emmanuel Delille has long been working with IHRIM. Its broadly interdisciplinary focus and methodology are likely to involve lecturers, PhD students and students well beyond the perimeter of the laboratory. During his stay, he will be pursuing a research collaboration with scientific partners at IHRIM around a collective publication (to be published in 2023 in the journal History of Psychiatry) with the DSM team ("Saying Mental Health/Dire la santé mentale") led by philosopher and anthropologist Samuel Lézé, on mental health issues.
It will present work in progress and recent research results at conferences aimed at researchers and students, in an interdisciplinary perspective. He will also contribute to the supervision of IHRIM doctoral students, by strengthening the history department's focus on the "History and Imagination of Science and Technology", in conjunction with medical anthropology, and by forging new links with other scientific and institutional partners in Lyon.
