TEDx events are organized by curious individuals who seek to discover ideas and spark conversations in their own community.
Born in Holland, Jan Traas has always been drawing cartoons. Finally, he ended up drawing his life: a scientist who follows and develops his passion for plants, their shapes, how they grow and how they develop. From Amsterdam to Norwich, Wageningen to Lyon, developmental biology was always his passion and focus. In 2007, he became the director of the RDP institute in Lyon. The same year he received the Jaffe integrative biology Prize from the science academy.
His speech tackles the issue of the evolution of biology towards a more "exact" science. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
