Krzysztof Gawedzki passed away this Friday, January 21, 2022.

ENS de Lyon is the first institution in France to invest in the only instrument in the world that allows the simultaneous manipulation and visualization of interactions between single biomolecules in real time.
8 teams in 3 laboratories – LPENSL, LBMC and RDP – are now working with this instrument.

Isabelle Baraffe, professor at CRAL (ENS de Lyon / CNRS / UCBL), is the recipient of the prestigious Viktor Ambartsumian International Scientific Prize.

Turbulent flows, like planetary atmospheres, oceans, or flow around an airfoil or a wind turbine, undergo strong fluctuations. Sometimes, the system may even undergo abrupt transitions between entirely different flow configurations. Such transitions seem to occur at random times, in an unpredictable manner.

Since 1922, the Louis Ancel Award is granted every year by the French Society of Physics. It rewards a French physicist for his/her work in condensed matter physics.

For the second edition, the CNRS call for projects '80 Prime' has once again given special emphasis to interdisciplinarity and risk-taking.

On Tuesday 8 October, 35 young women researchers received the Young Talent Award from the L'Oréal Foundation, in partnership with UNESCO.

The first edition of Knowledge Summit was held in March 2018. It was organized on the occasion of the State visit of the President of the Republic in India and inaugurated by Mrs. Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation which helped to establish the roadmap for Franco-Indian cooperation for the coming years, in partnership with companies.

While students are entering the ENS de Lyon, researchers are just as active.

The Simons Foundation announced on June 4, 2019 the establishment of the Simons Collaboration on Wave Turbulence, directed by Jalal Shatah from NYU assisted by Laure Saint-Raymond from ENS de Lyon and Nicolas Mordant from UGA.

On June 2019, Professor Gilles Chabrier was awarded for his seminal contributions to a variety of astrophysical domains, from planetary to stellar and galactic astronomy.
