Kshama Shama, a postdoctoral researcher at the CRMN, is among the 2025 winners of the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Young Talents Award, a recognition that supports young female researchers in their careers.

The jury for the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Young Talents Award has just announced the winners for 2025, the 19th edition of the award. A total of 34 doctoral and postdoctoral students were selected from nearly 700 candidates by a jury composed of more than 30 members of the French Academy of Sciences.

Kshama Shama, honored for her research on vaccines

Kshama Shama, a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Very High Field NMR (CRMN), is one of the lucky few to be rewarded for their promising research.
Specifically, Kshama Shama is working on a project to improve the efficacy and tolerance of vaccines. To this end, she is developing a novel method for observing the interactions between proteins and adjuvants in vaccines. To achieve this, she is using cutting-edge technology, nuclear magnetic resonance, at the CRMN, ENS de Lyon.

Financial support and training to break the “glass ceiling”

The L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Young Talents Award has been presented since 2007 by the L'Oréal Foundation, in partnership with the French Academy of Sciences and the French National Commission for UNESCO. For this 19th edition, each winner will receive a grant (€15,000 for doctoral students, €20,000 for post-doctoral students) to support their work. The winners will also benefit from training in communication and leadership to help them better tackle the “glass ceiling” and promote their scientific research.
