- Professor at the Mathematics Department of ENS de Lyon and Member of Unit of Pure and Applied Mathematics (UMPA).
- Appointed Senior Member of the Institut Universitaire de France in 2024
Biography
Nikolay Tzvetkov works on nonlinear partial differential equations.
He defended his thesis in 1999, after completing a doctorate under the supervision of Jean-Claude Saut at the Université Paris-Sud (now Paris Saclay), where he was a researcher until 2004.
In 2004, he was recruited as a professor at Université Lille-1, before joining CY Cergy Paris Université until 2022. Nikolay Tzvetkov joined ENS de Lyon in September 2022, where he teaches in the Mathematics Department and is a member of the Analysis and Modeling team of the Pure and Applied Mathematics Unit (UMPA).
His current research focuses on the statistical description of the flow of Hamiltonian partial differential equations. More specifically, he seeks to understand the interaction between temporary oscillations and random oscillations present in this framework.
Elected a junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) in 2010, he was named a senior member in 2024.
