The Académie des sciences and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan award the Franco-Taiwanese Scientific Grand Prize every year to a team of French and Taiwanese researchers for their contribution to scientific research of interest to both parties.
The laureates are expected to foster scientific exchange between the two parties, for example, by organizing conferences and symposia. The amount of the Prize is €38,200 to be shared equally between the laureates.
Stéphane Corcuff, Associate professor in Contemporary politics of the sinophone world at Sciences-Po Lyon, is also researcher at the East Asian Institute (IAO) at ENS de Lyon.
Specialized on identity politics and the geopolitics of Taiwan, his interests include also Taiwan-China relations over 400 years, interpreting this relation in terms of a "geopolitical liminality", a concept that encompasses geopolitics, history, ethnicity politics and national identity issues dimensions of the question.
