Subject:
Geophysical phenomena related to the atmosphere, oceans and fluids are part of everyday life, but the underlying physical explanations are rarely known to the general public.
Thanks to visual and didactic experiments, our mediation work enables us to initiate a genuine scientific approach, as part of a current social movement aimed at making science accessible to all and giving keys to understanding the world around us. In this sense, geophysical phenomena are relevant because they are easily visualized and allow the introduction of many concepts: time scales, concept of force, notion of wave, etc. Through the experimental modelling and popularisation of geophysical phenomena, the aim of our junior laboratory is to open access to scientific knowledge for all audiences.
