Étienne Ghys is CNRS emeritus research Director in Mathematics at ENS de Lyon and Permanent Secretary of the Académie des Sciences. He is the author of Ma petite histoire des nombres, published by Odile Jacob.

Romain Graziani is a professor of Chinese studies at ENS de Lyon and a researcher at the East Asian Institute. He publishes "Les Lois et les Nombres" with Gallimard.

François Guillemot is a historian specializing in contemporary Vietnam, and a CNRS research engineer at the Lyon Institute of East Asian Studies (IAO). He is the author of “Histoire du Viêt Nam contemporain - De 1858 à nos jours”, published by La Découverte.

XXELLES exhibition and medal handover: take a look back at the visit of Anne L'Huillier, Nobel Prize in Physics 2023
On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Anne L'Huillier, winner of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics, visited the “La Science taille XXELLES” exhibition on the Descartes site of ENS de Lyon, and presented Emmanuel Trizac, President of ENS de Lyon, with a facsimile of her medal. This replica will be on display in the Félix Pécaut forum, to pay tribute to Anne L'Huillier's scientific career, but also to promote scientific careers to young people, particularly women.

May 17 is the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. All year round, ENS de Lyon and its Equality Mission take action to prevent and deal with situations of violence, and promote inclusion. On this occasion, here's a reminder of the main existing process at ENS de Lyon.

Francis Albarède, emeritus professor at ENS de Lyon and member of the LGL-TPE laboratory, has just been elected an international member of the United-States Academy of Sciences.

Rendez-vous aux jardins is a national event designed to introduce a wide public to the richness and diversity of parks and gardens, and to raise awareness of the actions taken by the Ministry of Culture to promote the knowledge, protection, conservation, upkeep, restoration and creation of gardens, as well as the transmission of know-how, while highlighting their artistic and cultural dimension.

Supported by a consortium of eleven institutions, the Lyon-Saint-Étienne university's artificial intelligence center of excellence follows on from the “AILyS” project submitted in 2023 as part of the France 2030 investment plan. In particular, it will pool the skills of its members, improve coordination and provide a gateway for external partners.

As part of the ENS-IISER partnership, Naman ARORA, completed his six-month internship at CIRI under the supervision of Saïdi M HOMA SOUDJA in collaboration with Stéphane PAUL’s lab in Saint-Etienne. He is a student at IISER Mohali, and his research focuses on shaping T cell response at homeostasis.

As part of the ENS-IISER partnership, Prisha TANDA, IISER Mohali's student her research focuses on understanding the enigmatic interplays between DNA replication during the S phase and condensin-mediated chromosome assembly during mitosis. She has completed her six-month internship at the Laboratory of Biology and Modeling of the Cell (LBMC).

The 5th French Chemists' Tournament took place on March 28 and 29, 2025 at Sorbonne Université. Congratulations to the Quebec team (Université de Sherbrooke/Université de Montréal/Université Laval) who won the tournament, and to our team who won several prizes.

Mònica Ginés-Blasi, a postdoctoral fellow at the Institut d'Asie Orientale (IAO), in ENS de Lyon, publishes Intentional Invisibilization in Modern Asian History, published by De Gruyter Brill.

A new agreement has been signed between UQAM and ENS de Lyon.

On Thursday March 27, 2025, the first Biosymposium of the ENS de Lyon's biology laboratories brought together 350 researchers for a day dedicated to science, exchange and encounters.

ENS-IISER partnership - Nancy's experience at the International Research Center for Infectious Diseases
As part of the ENS-IISER partnership, Nancy, IISER Mohali's student in Virology, has completed her five-month internship at the International Research Center in Infectious Diseases (CIRI).

In Situ Lab, a start-up housed in the ENS de Lyon incubator, has won the “Alternatives vertes 2” call for projects for the UP-BiB - Ultra-passive Bioinspired Buildings - project running in collaboration with the RDP laboratory and the Alkante company. The “Alternatives vertes 2” call for projects is designed to support innovation in the ecological transition of cultural players, and is supported by the French government as part of France 2030's “Supporting Green Alternatives 2” program, operated by the Banque des territoires (Caisse des Dépôts).The project is in its start-up phase at the beginning of April, Teva Vernoux, co-founder of In Situ Lab, explains the broad outlines of the winning project.

On Wednesday 19 March 2025, the CRAL, Lyon's Astrophysics Research Centre, received a visit from the Chilean Ambassador, Mr Raúl Fernández Daza, accompanied by the Honorary Consul of Chile in Lyon, Mr Ignacio Velasco Arellano. The purpose of the visit was to present the CRAL's research activities, and in particular its involvement in major instrumental projects on Chilean telescopes.
