The IMU LabEx is an experimental research unit focusing on cities, urban areas, metropolization and urbanization. It aims to stimulate, produce, apply and promote scientific and technical expertise on past, present and future urban environments while supporting actions taken by public authorities and private stakeholders. It is built on the expertise of 530 researchers (from 31 laboratories in Lyon Saint-Étienne and 29 disciplines) and a number of partnerships with authorities and companies.
The IMU LabEx intends to strengthen urban research by promoting scientific plurality in the Lyon Saint-Étienne Metropolis. The LabEx is spread across a facility dedicated to young researchers and PhD students: IMUalpha and the "Habiter Ensemble la Ville de Demain" faculty.
