A historian specializing in contemporary religious history in Indonesia, he works within the Institute of East Asian Studies (IAO) at the École normale supérieure (ENS) in Lyon. He is publishing La Java des Jésuites : Une autre histoire des relations islamo-chrétiennes - XIXe-XXIe siècles.

The French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation presented ENS de Lyon with the national 2019 Higher Education teaching award “Passion Enseignement et Pédagogie” designed to encourage institutional commitment to the pursuit of excellent, innovative university teaching and learning. ENS de Lyon won in the "Internationalization" category, for its international “Transatlantic Translation Workshop”.

The 10th Steering Committee of the Joint Research Institute for Science and Society (JoRISS), under the joint chairmanship of Mr QIAN Xuhong (President of ECNU) and Mr Yanick RICARD (Vice-President Research of ENS de Lyon), was held on December 11, 2019 at ENS de Lyon.
